How do I use Face ID or Touch ID to unlock My Little Accountant?
Turn biometric unlock on or off for My Little Accountant on your iPhone.
Quick answer
After entering your email code on mobile, use the Face ID or Touch ID setup page if you want faster unlocks on that device, then choose whether to allow notifications for Monday Weekly AI Insights and Thursday spending-goal check-ins. My Little Accountant starts enforcing biometric unlock after onboarding reaches the main app. If you return while setup is unfinished, Resume onboarding is the primary action and returns you to biometric setup when that is where you stopped.
Steps
- 1Open My Little Accountant on your iPhone and sign in with your email code or test password.
- 2On the Face ID or Touch ID setup page after verification, choose Use Face ID or Use Touch ID.
- 3When iOS asks for Face ID or Touch ID, approve the prompt.
- 4After the Weekly Insights intro, tap Allow Notifications on the notifications screen to open the iOS notification prompt, then tap Allow if you want Monday Weekly AI Insights and Thursday spending-goal check-ins. If notifications are already allowed, My Little Accountant skips the permission screen.
- 5Continue into onboarding.
- 6Finish onboarding and reach the main app.
- 7When you fully reopen the app, or leave it for more than a brief moment and return, My Little Accountant shows its logo and automatically starts the biometric prompt before showing your finances.
- 8To change it later, open Settings and use the Face ID or Touch ID unlock toggle.
Email fallback
Biometric unlock is only an app unlock for this device. If you cancel the prompt, get locked out, or switch devices, My Little Accountant shows the sign-in screen so you can still use your email code.
On mobile, the top-left Back arrow is available during the pre-account setup screens and most authenticated onboarding screens, including the weekly insights and notification permission screens after Face ID or Touch ID setup. The single spending goal intro after AI training is forward-only, but the following Set one spending goal screen has the standard Back arrow.
If iOS will not show the notification prompt because notifications were previously turned off in Settings, My Little Accountant offers to open Settings or continue without notifications.
Primary setup actions such as Create account, Continue, and Send code stay fixed at the bottom of mobile setup screens so they do not need to be scrolled into view.
After a valid first and last name is submitted, the Continue button shows a loading indicator and stays disabled until the email page opens, preventing repeated taps from adding duplicate name pages to the navigation stack.
The mobile email page shows only the What's your email heading above the form. If that email already belongs to an account, the code screen explains that My Little Accountant found the account; successful verification opens the main app directly instead of continuing account onboarding or biometric setup.
The first main-app walkthrough introduces Finances, Net Worth, Custom Dashboards, and Chat. It intentionally skips Settings so new users reach Your Little Accountant without touring a setup tab they do not need yet.
If the app is fully closed during onboarding, reopening it shows the sign-in start screen with a Resume onboarding option. Resume returns to biometric setup when it was interrupted, rebuilds the setup stack through the saved pre-code pages, or rebuilds weekly insights and notifications after verification so Back returns to the correct onboarding screen. The notifications screen is left out of the rebuilt stack when notification permission is already allowed. In the pre-account introduction, Continue on Understanding is Power now opens Meet Your Little Accountant directly. Older saved sessions that stopped on the removed categorization introduction resume at Meet Your Little Accountant. Outside that explicit Resume flow, onboarding advances sequentially and does not jump ahead just because a field was filled on an earlier attempt. When the keyboard opens on an onboarding form, the content, focused field, and Continue action resize together so the button cannot cover the field. The single spending goal intro appears later in authenticated onboarding right before saving the spending goal. After the spending goal is saved, My Little Accountant warms the first Finances graph while completing setup, then sends the user directly to the main app and begins the tab tour without repeating a Free-or-Pro welcome page. Because the connected accounts were just synced, it does not start another full sync during that tour; later background refreshes keep the last successful graph visible instead of replacing it with loading skeletons. If the completed onboarding screen is revisited, it redirects the user back to the app. After Net Worth, the tour introduces Custom Dashboards with a scripted, non-persistent demo: it presses Start Building, sends Build me a monthly budget in a simulated Code Mode chat, and reveals the same example Monthly Budget dashboard for every new user without creating a real dashboard on their account. The final Now ask Your Little Accountant coachmark waits until the new Chat screen and its conversation are ready, then fades in gently with only an arrow pointing to Send instead of appearing over the previous tab during navigation. My Little Accountant stores anonymous setup progress and page starts before email entry, then links that onboarding analytics session to the account after verification so support/admin can see where setup stalled. The admin Onboarding tab derives page timing from the next page start, tracks Back separately, and can show all journeys or filter the funnel and page timings to one specific user. The funnel, recent-session cards, current and reached-step badges, and single-user waterfall label every page with its numeric onboarding index so forward and backward movement is visible. Single-user filtering also shows a zoomable waterfall timeline for inspecting page-by-page timing. Choosing Create account or Log in from that screen clears the local in-progress session first.
On web, Back to login on the first onboarding screen signs you out, clears the local session state for that browser tab, and returns you to the login page.
The mobile app keeps a revocable device session in secure storage and renews it as you use My Little Accountant. Temporary connection or server problems do not delete that session or sign you out. The session ends when you explicitly sign out, delete your account, or leave the app unused until it expires.
Signing out clears the saved mobile session tokens and the biometric unlock preference for that local app session, so reopening the app starts at sign-in.
Device setup
The toggle appears when the device has Face ID, Touch ID, or another supported biometric method set up. If it is unavailable, set up biometrics in your device settings first.
